Giuseppe Campanelli, President of Market Area North and Central America, shared his vision for Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ's footprint in the Southwest United States:

“Nearly five years ago, during the merger of Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ and Outotec, it became evident that the Southwestern USA was underserved. Our customers, striving to optimize their assets and manage costs, highlighted the need for reliable alternatives to equipment replacement, especially due to lengthy lead times.

Today, our full-time employee count has nearly tripled since 2020, and we have nearly doubled the capacity and capabilities of our Mesa repair center. However, attracting skilled individuals has been a significant challenge. To ensure long-term sustainability, we decided to establish a world-class training facility in the Southwest to develop our workforce."

With an investment of approximately EUR 14 million, announced in November 2023, the expansion will increase the repair shop area by nearly 60%, significantly enhancing Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ's capacity and capability to provide OEM-quality repairs and refurbishments. This investment will support a wide range of mining equipment, covering essential process steps such as crushing, screening, grinding and HPGRs, filtration, flotation, and slurry handling, among others.

Project Managing this major expansion in Mesa, Arizona is Michael Granato.

“Thanks to significant investment, we will be adding 17,000 ft² to the shop, a new shipping and receiving area, a dedicated 7,000 ft² training center. There will also be renovations including a new breakroom more than double the size of the existing one. New machines including a 4.5m (nearly 15ft) CNC vertical turning lathe with live tooling, a CNC horizontal boring mill - larger than our existing HBM with a large rotary table, and a new submerged arc welding set up with programs customized for our common parts.”

Nichole Prichard, Senior Manager Technical Training, is extremely passionate about knowledge and growth: 

"Training is no longer a nice to have or an afterthought. Today it’s a must for our own company’s employees as well as our partners and customers. As technology and processes advance, the daily work must change with that. This requires the investment in competence development to keep up with these changes, and to use those changes to push further in production needs requirement of aggregates and minerals.

Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ Academy has more than a dozen training locations globally. The Mesa Training Center will be the first stand-alone training facility for Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ, globally. The groundbreaking of Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ Academy Training Center is not just the start of a construction project. It is the beginning of a vision: a vision to empower the next generation of mining professionals, to enhance safety and efficiency in our operations, and to strengthen the backbone of an industry that fuels our modern world."

"One of the cornerstones of our Training Center will be the invaluable contribution of our Field Service Experts. These seasoned professionals will play an integral role in sharing their areas of expertise, mentoring trainees, and providing real-world insights that bridge the gap between theory and practice. Their experience will enrich the learning environment, ensuring that trainees gain hands-on knowledge that is directly applicable to the challenges they will face in the field. By promoting a culture of continuous learning and development, we are not only addressing immediate challenges but also forging long-term partnerships that drive retention and bolster our collective success."

Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ aims to elevate service center operations to a shared, industry-leading standard. They are committed to continuing their successful employee certification program, ensuring top-tier customer service experiences, while also focusing on digitalization to further enhance their capabilities and efficiency.

Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ has a vast service and repair center network, comprising over 3,700 field service professionals and technical support experts, spread across more than 140 service locations and repair centers on six continents. Since 2021, the Phoenix region has also hosted one of Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ's largest warehouse operations globally.
